Walking the Camino: A Journey of Faith and Transformation

When Betty signed up for the Camino, she imagined a challenging adventure—10-mile days, carrying essentials on her back, and walking ancient paths steeped in history. What she didn’t anticipate was the profound way God would meet her along the way.

“I saw it in the conversations,” Betty reflected, thinking back on the community she walked alongside. “Their hunger for authenticity and their deep desire to grow in intimacy with God were incredible. Those moments weren’t just small talk—they were sacred turning points.”

As the team trekked through the countryside, stopping in small villages and sharing meals with other pilgrims, the Gospel came alive. Over cups of café bon bon and chocolate-filled croissants, they shared their faith with strangers, weaving stories of hope and transformation.

“It was life-giving to see these young adults stepping out boldly, sharing the hope of Christ with people they’d never met,” she said.

But the Camino wasn’t without its challenges. For Betty, the journey became even more difficult when she fell ill.

“I was sick for most of the walk,” she admitted. “There were moments I thought I couldn’t take another step. But those were the moments when God’s strength carried me. When I was at my weakest, He was at His strongest.”

By the time Betty reached the end of the Camino, she wasn’t just physically stronger—she was spiritually renewed. “The Camino wasn’t just a walk,” she said. “It was a mission. A journey where faith deepened, connections grew, and God’s presence was unmistakable.”
